I’m nearing the end of my Full Stack Developer Apprenticeship at Bloc and it has been quite an experience. I have been lucky enough to keep my job as a Technical Support Representative but drop down to 30 hours a week to give myself more time to focus on my Web Development apprenticeship.

So far, my experience with the program has been very positive. Although, that is not to say that it has not been difficult. I went through the majority of the foundational HTML and CSS content relatively quickly. I was hungry to learn, and I had learned a considerable amount of HTML and CSS before I enrolled in the program. I knew I wanted to enroll myself in an intensive full stack web developer bootcamp. I wanted to drastically accellerate my learning and I was prepared to put in the time. It was only a matter of finding the right program that would fit all of my specific needs. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to quit my job outright and spend 8+ hours a day working on the curriculum. That was not financially feasible for me. I felt that a remote program was best for my particular schedule as I travel often and I knew that I would need to be able to work on the curriculum remotely. Another criterion that was very important to me was having some kind of dedicated mentor or tutor that could help and guide me through the coursework.

I started getting into web development in the beginning of 2015. I used to work as a Technical Recruiter here in Denver, CO. I specialized in recruiting for technical positions in the financial services industry. The positions I recruited for were predominently software/application development positions such as Java or .Net Developers. However, I also recruited for many other technical positions such as Project Managers, Business Analysts, Systems Administrators, Data Analysts and more.
